Through their presentations, the speakers discussed various aspects of physical activity in the digital age, from national policies and the use of assistive technology to the use of step trackers as self-monitoring tools to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

The series of activities also included presentations on research by students majoring in Health Promotion, which involved 441 respondents from the Greater Jakarta area. The majority of respondents were under 30 years old, had junior high or high school education, were predominantly female, did not work formally, and were active social media users. Most were in the low to moderate physical activity category, indicating the persistence of a sedentary lifestyle in urban areas.

A total of 235 respondents used step tracker apps, with Strava being the most popular and having been used for over a year. Some users also shared their physical activity on social media, indicating the social pressure to develop movement habits. Respondents' self-efficacy levels were also quite good, with more than half reporting high levels of confidence in engaging in physical activity.

The statistical analysis revealed three main findings:

  1. Step tracker app use was positively associated with physical activity levels.
  2. Social media use was not significantly associated with physical activity, despite high usage duration.
  3. Self-efficacy has been shown to play a significant role in encouraging physical activity, with individuals with higher self-efficacy tending to be more active.

As an annual event for the Health Promotion major, this seminar is expected to continue to serve as a forum for professional development, strengthening student capacity, and sharing best practices in technology-based health promotion. Through this activity, the Public Health Study Program at the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Jakarta, affirmed its commitment to supporting improvements in the quality of life of the community and realizing Indonesia's Golden Generation 2045.
