South Tangerang, FIKES Online News,- The Pharmacist Professional Study Program (PSPA) Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has again become one of the locations for holding the National Competency Test (UKOMNAS) for the Pharmacist Professional Study Program (PSPA) using the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) method which will take place on 25–26 July 2026.

A total of 60 PSPA Class XVII students took the OSCE exam series as an important stage in measuring the competency of prospective pharmacists before entering the world of professional practice. Different from theory-based exams, the OSCE method not only tests mastery of pharmaceutical knowledge, but also assesses clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, decision making and professional communication which are the main competencies of a pharmacist.

In implementing the UKOMNAS OSCE method this time, each participant had to pass through 10 stations designed with various pharmaceutical case scenarios. At each station, students are required to demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, take action quickly and precisely, and communicate effectively with patients and other health workers in accordance with pharmaceutical practice standards.

The success of organizing this activity cannot be separated from thorough preparation and strong synergy between the local committee and the central supervisor. The entire committee carries out its duties and responsibilities professionally so that the entire series of exams can take place in an orderly, smooth manner and in accordance with national standards.

This time, the Coordinator of the OSCE Center (KOC) of FIKES UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Vivi Anggia, said that the implementation of the UKOMNAS OSCE method has a greater meaning than just a competency exam.

"UKOMNAS PDPA OSCE method is not just a competency test, but is a form of joint commitment to produce pharmacists who are professional, competent and have integrity. The success of holding this activity occurred thanks to the cooperation and support of a solid team as well as the enthusiasm of all participants in providing the best performance."

In implementing the UKOMNAS OSCE method, the OSCE Center Coordinator (KOC) coordinates around 45 local committees and 20 examiners who together ensure that the entire process runs according to national procedures. Collaboration between all parties is an important factor in creating quality and objective exams.

The implementation of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for prospective pharmacists involves a team of examiners consisting of lecturers and professional experts in the pharmaceutical field. The involvement of these two elements aims to ensure that the assessment process takes place objectively, comprehensively, and in accordance with the competency standards of the pharmacist profession.

The lecturers play a role in assessing the academic aspects and application of pharmaceutical knowledge that participants have learned during their education period. Meanwhile, professional pharmaceutical experts provide assessments based on practical experience and real needs faced in the world of work.

The combination of academic and practitioner examiners is expected to be able to produce a more comprehensive evaluation of participants' abilities, starting from communication skills, clinical decision making, to the application of pharmaceutical service standards. In this way, the resulting pharmacist professional graduates will have competencies that are in line with the demands of health services and community needs.

Through the implementation of the UKOMNAS OSCE method, FIKES UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the provision of quality professional pharmacist education and producing graduates who are ready to provide the best pharmaceutical services to the community.

The UKOMNAS PDPA OSCE method is the first stage before the students of the pharmacist professional study program face the UKOMNAS PDPA Computer Based Test (CBT) method which will be held on August 9 2026.  Hopes and prayers always accompany the steps of all class XVII students so that they will be given fluency, health and self-confidence in every stage of the National Competency Test. Hopefully all the efforts that have been made will produce the best results, so that Class XVII is able to achieve 100% graduation at UKOMNAS this year. (ARN/ZR)
