81 Newly Registered Nurses of UIN Jakarta Officially Inaugurated, Ready to Serve the Nation
Jakarta, FIKES Online News – A solemn and emotional atmosphere filled the Harun Nasution Auditorium at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on Wednesday (September 16) as the Nursing Professional Program of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), UIN Jakarta, held its 20th Nurse Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony. A total of 81 graduates officially took the professional oath and earned the title of Ners (Registered Nurse), marking the beginning of their service as healthcare professionals amid the ever-evolving challenges of the healthcare sector.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta; Prof. Dr. Zilhadia, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; the Vice Deans of FIKES; Karyadi, Ph.D., Chair of the Banten Regional Council of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI); Dr. Maftuhah, M.Kep., Head of the Nursing Professional Program; Ns. Purnamasari, S.Kep., representing Fatmawati Hospital; as well as leaders from affiliated community health centers (puskesmas) and clinical partner institutions. Parents and family members of the graduates were also present to witness this memorable milestone.
The event began with the professional oath-taking ceremony led directly by Dr. Maftuhah, M.Kep., Head of the Nursing Professional Program. Marked by the sound of the ceremonial gavel, the graduates officially pledged their commitment to practicing nursing with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, professionalism, and compassion.
An emotional moment unfolded during the ceremony when Ns. Salma Nurahma, S.Kep., representing the newly inaugurated nurses, delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of the graduating class. In her remarks, she encouraged her fellow graduates to be grateful for the long and challenging journey they had undertaken throughout their professional education.
“Today’s achievement is not because we are perfect. Rather, it is proof that Allah SWT never abandons those who continue to strive and move forward. This journey has been filled with challenges and sacrifices, but it has also been rich with valuable lessons. This success would not have been possible without the prayers, support, and unwavering dedication of our parents, who have accompanied us every step of the way,” she said.
She also expressed her appreciation to all her fellow graduates for successfully completing their professional nursing education. Furthermore, she encouraged the newly registered nurses to maintain their passion for lifelong learning and to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to serving the community as compassionate and professional healthcare providers.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Zilhadia, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, expressed his pride in the addition of a new generation of professional nurses graduating from the institution.
“Becoming a Registered Nurse is not merely about earning a professional title; it is also about accepting a responsibility to provide the highest quality healthcare services to the community. We are proud to see our graduates today ready to move forward as competent healthcare professionals who uphold integrity and demonstrate a strong commitment to caring for others,” he stated.
Prof. Zilhadia further emphasized that the presence of these newly inaugurated nurses is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of Indonesia’s healthcare sector. He underscored the important role that nurses play in improving the quality of healthcare services and addressing the evolving health needs of society.

In her remarks, she highlighted the long-standing and close partnership between Fatmawati Hospital and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, which has been strengthened through various health professional education programs.

Meanwhile, Karyadi, Ph.D., Chair of the Banten Regional Council of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI), reminded the graduates of the importance of professionalism and exercising caution in carrying out their duties as nurses, particularly in today’s era of social media.
According to him, the nursing profession carries significant responsibility because it is directly related to patients’ safety, well-being, and quality of life. Therefore, newly registered nurses are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, prioritize patient safety in every aspect of care, and continuously enhance their competencies in line with advancements in healthcare science and technology.
