Achieving the Virtues of the Last Ten Nights of Ramadan in the Study of "Harmonious Ramadan" at the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Jakarta

FIKES Online News - The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again held a Ramadan study session titled "Harmonious Ramadan" on Friday (March 6, 2026) online via Zoom Meeting. This activity concluded this year's Harmonious Ramadan series of events, which will be followed by a Halal Bihalal gathering.

The study, attended by lecturers, educational staff, and students, featured Dr. Syairozi Dimyathi Ilyas, M.A., as a resource person. The theme was "Reaching the Peak of Virtue in the Last Ten Nights of Ramadan." In his presentation, Dr. Syairozi explained that the last ten nights of Ramadan are a very special time for Muslims. These nights hold various virtues, including the revelation of the Quran and Laylat al-Qadr, a night better than a thousand months.

He explained that Lailatul Qadr can be interpreted as a "narrow" night, because on this night many angels descend to earth bringing mercy and blessings. The existence of Lailatul Qadr also demonstrates Allah's love for the people of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), considering that previous generations had longer lives and therefore had more time for worship. "The night in which the Quran was revealed is a blessed night, so we are encouraged to seek and attain these blessings," said Dr. Syairozi in his study.

He also emphasized that blessings are not only related to sustenance, but can also include a long life accompanied by goodness in life. On this occasion, Dr. Syairozi also shared simple tips for achieving Lailatul Qadr, including not skipping Tarawih prayers during Ramadan, and increasing worship such as dhikr, reading the Quran, and other good deeds.

The event continued with a question-and-answer session. One participant, apt. Adha Dastu Illahi, M.Farm, asked for tips on how to perform i'tikaf for a long time. In response, Dr. Syairozi explained that the first step is to align one's intentions, then fill the i'tikaf time with dhikr (remembrance of Allah), reading the Quran, and also interspersing it with reading beneficial knowledge.

Another question was raised by Ns. Rahma Syukrini, M.Kep., regarding how a mother with a baby can perform i'tikaf like the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In response, Dr. Syairozi explained that i'tikaf can be performed for a short time, even a moment, as mentioned in several hadiths that describe i'tikaf being performed for the time it takes to milk a camel.

This study is expected to serve as a reminder for the academic community of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Jakarta to maximize worship during the last ten nights of Ramadan, so as to attain the blessings and glory of Laylat al-Qadr. (ADI)
