D'ESA Program, Nature in Action: A Joint Movement to Utilize Household Resources for Health and the Environment
FIKES Online News - The Epidemiology Student Association (ESA) successfully held a community service activity through the Development by ESA (D'ESA) program on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Mawar Lebak Bulus RPTRA. This activity marked the second implementation of the D'ESA program, demonstrating the tangible contribution of Epidemiology students in the Public Health Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Themed "Nature in Action: A Joint Movement to Utilize Household Resources for Health and the Environment," the activity aimed to increase community knowledge and skills in utilizing simple household materials to support family health and environmental sustainability.
The Epidemiology Student Association (ESA) is a scholarly organization specializing in Epidemiology under the Public Health study program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. ESA focuses on the development of epidemiology, health mapping, and community service.
The activity began with an opening hosted by MC Meilani Dwiky Nurzahwa and Nadira Lianawati, then continued with remarks from the Chairperson of the D'ESA 2026 Executive Committee Sita Nafeyla Putri Zahra, Deputy Chairperson of ESA Ananda Aulia Shalsabila, remarks from the ESA advisor Prof. Hoirun Nisa, Ph.D. and finally remarks from the representative of the Mawar Lebak Bulus RPTRA management Siti Jaozah. Entering the core of the activity, participants received material presentations from speakers, namely: Mrs. Dr. Minsarnawati, M.Kes and Mrs. Dr. Ela Laelasari, M.Kes. The material presented focused on the use of natural ingredients as an alternative to household health products, especially in making safe and environmentally friendly mosquito repellent spray.

Following the presentation, the event continued with a demonstration of making natural mosquito repellent spray by Reisha and Feyla, followed by hands-on practice by participants in groups. This method provided an interactive learning experience, allowing participants not only to understand the theory but also to practice independently. The community's enthusiasm was high throughout the event. Participants actively participated in discussions, demonstrations, and practical sessions. The mosquito repellent spray produced during the event was also distributed to participants as a form of ongoing program support.
Through the implementation of D'ESA 2026, it is hoped that the community will be increasingly encouraged to utilize local resources as a simple, economical, and environmentally friendly solution for maintaining family health. This program also serves as an initial step in raising public awareness of the importance of empowerment based on the potential of the surrounding environment.

Several Public Health lecturers served as resource persons and witnessed the social activity.

Next, participants were invited to participate in a demonstration on making natural mosquito repellent spray, followed by hands-on group practice. Through this method, the community gained not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience that they could apply independently at home. This activity also demonstrated the high level of enthusiasm from the community surrounding the Mawar Lebak Bulus RPTRA, as evidenced by the participants' active involvement throughout the educational and practical sessions. The resulting mosquito repellent spray was shared with participants as a way to ensure the program's continued benefits.
