FIKES Online News - The FIKES Disaster Responder Team (FDT) of the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, conducted an Emergency Preparedness for a Safe and Secure Community (SIGAMAS) activity at the Ibnu Sabil Grand Mosque on Jl. Villa Pamulang, Jl. Bima III, Pondok Benda, Pamulang District, South Tangerang City, Banten. The activity, themed "FLAME (Fire Literacy & Awareness for the Modern Environment)," focused on improving fire literacy and community preparedness in the event of a fire emergency, on Saturday (June 6, 2026).

The 2026 SIGAMAS activity was held as a form of community service and implementation of the FDT's role as a student organization engaged in disaster management. This activity was aimed at the community around the Ibnu Sabil Grand Mosque, the program's primary target. Through SIGAMAS, participants were provided with an understanding of the causes of fires, steps to prevent fires in the household environment, and first aid for fire victims. In addition, participants also get the opportunity to practice directly using a Light Fire Extinguisher (APAR) and basic fire extinguishing techniques with guidance from the presenters and the committee on duty.

The series of activities began with registration of participants and invited guests, followed by an opening ceremony, recitation of verses from the Quran, and welcoming remarks. Addresses were given by the Chairperson of the SIGAMAS 2026 Organizing Committee, the Chairperson of the FDT, and representatives from the local area. In their remarks, the participants emphasized the importance of increasing community preparedness for various potential disasters, particularly fires, which frequently occur in residential areas. The event then continued with educational materials on fire prevention and mitigation by the Dompet Dhuafa Disaster Management Center (DMC). The presentation was interactive, engaging participants through discussions and questions and answers, ensuring a better understanding.

To reinforce understanding, the event continued with a practical session on the use of fire extinguishers (APAR) and basic firefighting techniques. In this session, participants were first given a demonstration by the presenter, followed by hands-on practice. The participants' enthusiasm was evident throughout the event, especially during the field practice, as they gained real-world experience that they could apply when facing a fire in their local area. The activities were also interspersed with interactive quizzes with prizes as a means of evaluating participants' understanding of the material that had been provided.

Through this activity, the community gained additional knowledge about fires and basic skills for responding to emergencies. This activity also served as a concrete contribution from the FDT to increasing public awareness and preparedness for disasters.

With the implementation of SIGAMAS 2026, it is hoped that the community will better understand the importance of fire disaster mitigation, be able to take preventative measures independently, and develop basic skills to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations. The FIKES Disaster Responder Team is committed to continuing to implement disaster education programs that benefit the community in an effort to create a safe, resilient environment that is ready to face various disaster risks in the future.
