Fighting the Stigma of Tuberculosis, PBL Students Group 13 of UIN Jakarta Hold the KADER KECE and JUBES TBC Programs in Pondok Cabe Ilir

FIKES Online News - Field Learning Experience (PBL) students from the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, members of Group 13, held the KADER KECE (Responsive & Cool Frontline Cadres to Prevent Tuberculosis) and JUBES TBC (Juknis RW Bebas TB) programs in RW 02, Pondok Cabe Ilir Village, South Tangerang.

The program, held on Monday, February 2, 2026, was intended to combat the stigma against TB sufferers. RW 02 was selected as the intervention location based on the results of the Rapid Epidemiology Survey (SCE), which showed that community stigma against TB sufferers persists.

"The KADER KECE program aims to increase the capacity of health cadres in RW 02 to understand and manage TB, enabling them to play an active role in community TB control efforts. Meanwhile, the JUBES TBC was developed as a guideline to support TB prevention, control, and breaking the chain of transmission through community empowerment and strengthening cross-sector collaboration at the RW level," said Neisya Shabina, Head of Group 13 PBL.

This activity was attended by eight health cadres as the main participants and 15 invited guests, consisting of representatives from the Pondok Cabe Ilir Community Health Center, Pondok Cabe Ilir Village, the South Tangerang City Health Office, Babinsa (village supervisory non-commissioned officers), community leaders, and local TB cadres. Both programs were implemented concurrently with the TB-Free RW commitment drive.

Before the program began, a TB-Free RW commitment drive was held, marked by the signing of a banner by various sectors as a demonstration of joint readiness to support the realization of a TB-Free RW in RW 02, Pondok Cabe Ilir Village, to improve public health.

During the KADER KECE activities, cadres were provided with pocket books as educational resources that they could retain and study again. This helped them remember the material presented and facilitated their dissemination of TB-related information to the community and fellow cadres. A socialization session on the TB JUBES was also held during the KADER KECE activities, explaining the goals and expectations of the technical guidelines.

The speakers at the KADER KECE activities included Dr. Izza Hananingtyas, SKM., M.Kes., a Public Health lecturer from UIN Jakarta; Dr. Dessy Tristiviyati, a representative from the Pondok Cabe Ilir Community Health Center; and a representative from UIN Jakarta's PBL Group 13 students.

This activity also provided a platform for students to learn and develop their public speaking skills within the community. The material covered basic TB knowledge, contact investigation, TB prevention, TB patient support, recording and reporting, and the concept of a TB-Free Neighborhood Association (RW).

Neisya stated that each participating cadre took a pre- and post-test to gauge their understanding after the training.

"The analysis results show an increase in cadre knowledge in line with the expected target. Through the implementation of KADER KECE and JUBES TBC, it is hoped that cadres and stakeholders such as RW and RT can play an active role in reducing the stigma against TB and disseminating information to families and the surrounding environment, so that public awareness of TB prevention will increase."
