FIKES Online News - The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting public health through Community Service (Pengmas) activities in the Cisauk Village, Tangerang Regency. This activity represents a concrete response to identified health issues in the community, particularly the control of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Thursday (November 27, 2025)

The community service program began with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the Cisauk Community Health Center (Puskesmas), involving the Head of the Community Health Center and his staff. The discussion then continued with an FGD with the village officials, attended by the Cisauk Village Head, the village team, and health cadres. From this identification process, three key health issues emerged that needed immediate attention: the prevention and management of DHF, the prevention of stunting, and the increased use of traditional medicine to support public health.

Following up on these findings, FIKES UIN Jakarta has developed a series of community service activities focused on strengthening the capacity of cadres as the spearhead of public health. The initial activity was in-depth education on dengue fever and vector eradication strategies, with an emphasis on mosquito larvae control. This education was provided to strengthen cadres' abilities in conducting routine environmental monitoring and evaluation.

As a concrete follow-up, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Jakarta held the inauguration of Jumantik (Special Mosquito Net) cadres as a symbol of their shared commitment to the dengue fever (DHF) alert movement. Thirty-seven health cadres were inaugurated by the Head of Cisauk, Ramdhan Randika, S.STP.M.SI., as the official Jumantik cadres for Cisauk Village. The inauguration was witnessed by the Head of the Cisauk Community Health Center, Dr. Netty Mawaty Tambunan, and a representative from FIKES UIN Jakarta, Karyadi, S.Kp., M.Kep., Ph.D., Head of Community Service for FIKES 2025.

The Head of Community Service, Karyadi, S.Kp., M.Kep., Ph.D., stated that the inauguration of the Jumantik cadres is a crucial part of a series of efforts to address health issues in Cisauk. He emphasized that synergy between academics, the village government, the community health center, and the community is the main foundation for minimizing the risk of dengue fever spread through evidence-based preventive measures.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M.Sc., also expressed his high appreciation for the event. He stated that the inauguration of the Jumantik (mosquito control) cadres was not merely a ceremony, but a crucial moment in building community independence to create a healthy, mosquito-free environment. He emphasized that FIKES will continue to be at the forefront of academic and social contributions to the community.

With this inauguration, it is hoped that the Cisauk Village will be increasingly prepared and responsive in preventing dengue fever, through the active role of the Jumantik cadres, who have been equipped with the knowledge and expertise to regularly monitor mosquito larvae. (UK)
