FIKES UIN Jakarta Holds Community Service "Grebek Jentik" in 6 RWs, Cisauk Subdistrict
Tangerang Regency, FIKES News Online – The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again held a series of Community Service (Pengmas) activities in Cisauk Village in response to the increasing number of Dengue Fever (DHF) cases in the area. The activity, themed "Grebek Jentik (Large Sweep and Dengue Fever Prevention Education"), is part of a series of community service activities focused on addressing various public health issues in Cisauk Village. Wednesday (December 3, 2025)
This program is a collaboration between FIKES UIN Jakarta, the Cisauk Community Health Center (Puskesmas), and the Cisauk Village. It involved all elements of the community, from regional officials and health workers to residents of six neighborhood units (RW). A total of 37 health workers attended and assisted in the activities.

As part of the field practice implementation, this activity also involved approximately 50 students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Jakarta from various study programs. Student involvement is a crucial effort by the faculty to provide real-world experience in identifying and addressing public health issues directly in the field.
The core of the community service activity is Grebek Jentik (Jentik Sweep), a direct inspection for mosquito larvae by visiting residents' homes in six neighborhood units (RW) in Cisauk Village. Students, along with health cadres, inspected various potential breeding sites for mosquito larvae, such as bathtubs, gutters, water plants, water reservoirs, used items, and even overlooked corners of homes.
After all locations were inspected, a comprehensive recapitulation of each home and area where larvae were found was conducted. The results of this recapitulation will serve as evaluation material to determine next steps and map the level of dengue fever risk in each RW area.

In the educational session, speakers explained how to monitor mosquito larvae, inspection techniques, and how communities can conduct self-evaluations to ensure their homes remain free of mosquito larvae. The speakers for this activity were lecturers from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Waras Budi Utomo, SKM., MKM, and Kustati Budi Lestari, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.An.
The activity was led by the Head of Community Service, Karyadi, S.Kp., M.Kep., Ph.D., with Dr. Uswatun Khasanah, MNS., Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation at FIKES, as the person in charge.
The Dean of FIKES UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M.Si., stated that the Grebek Larvae (Jinja Larvae Sweep) activity demonstrates FIKES' rapid response and commitment to supporting public health. "FIKES UIN Jakarta is committed to actively participating in various public health issues, particularly the prevention of preventable diseases such as dengue fever. Collaboration with community health centers (Puskesmas) and sub-districts is key to the success of this program," he said. (UK)
