FIKES UIN Jakarta Holds Patent Application Drafting Training for Lecturers and Education Staff.
FIKES Online News – The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Patent Application Drafting Training on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in the Main Meeting Room (RRU) on the 2nd floor of the FKIK Building.
 
This training was attended by lecturers and staff within the Faculty of Health Sciences of UIN Jakarta as part of strengthening the research culture and downstreaming academic innovation. The material presented included an introduction to the concepts of patents and inventions, strategies for drafting patent documents, patent application techniques, requirements for patentable inventions, abstract preparation, claims, and descriptions, as well as an understanding of the patent application process and requirements in Indonesia.
 
Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of UIN Jakarta, who also served as a resource person at the training, explained that a patent is an exclusive right granted by the state to an inventor for a technological invention that is novel, inventive, and industrializable. In addition to providing legal protection, patent ownership also provides academic benefits for lecturers and institutions, including recognition as inventors, opportunities for downstream innovation, and support for academic career development.

Various forms of inventions can be patented, including formulas or compositions for pharmaceutical preparations, nutraceuticals, medical devices, production methods or processes, technological systems, and the development of digital applications and systems that incorporate elements of innovation and technological novelty. Participants were also provided with an understanding of the patent application process and the documents required for patent applications.
 
Furthermore, innovations in the form of research products, processing methods, and the development of health-based technologies also have the potential to obtain patent protection if they meet the specified requirements, said Zilhadia.
 
The event was interactive, with participants enthusiastically discussing the opportunities for developing research findings into innovative products with valuable benefits and legal protection.

Through this training, the Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) of UIN Jakarta hopes that more innovations and research results from the academic community can be registered and officially granted patent protection, thereby supporting the strengthening of a culture of innovation and the downstreaming of research on campus.
