FIKES Online News—The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted a Community Service (Pengmas) activity in Cisauk Village, Cisauk District, Tangerang Regency. The activity, themed "Managing Stunting through Strengthening Health Cadres," was a response to the persistent cases of stunting among toddlers in the area. A total of 37 health cadres participated in this training with the aim of increasing their capacity to detect the risk of stunting early, provide nutrition education to families, and implement appropriate interventions to prevent stunting. Strengthening the capacity of cadres is crucial because they are the frontline in stunting management, from monitoring toddler growth and providing nutritional counseling to providing household-based follow-up.

This Community Service Program was implemented through a collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, the Cisauk Village, and the Cisauk Community Health Center (Puskesmas). This collaboration was designed to strengthen promotive and preventive efforts through education and ongoing mentoring for the community, particularly regarding maternal and child nutrition.
This activity also involved students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FKH) of UIN Jakarta as part of the field practice implementation. The students' presence played a crucial role in supporting the education and empowerment process for cadres, while also providing them with firsthand experience in the dynamics of public health interventions.
The training featured speakers from FIKES UIN Jakarta, namely Raihana Nadra Alkaff, SKM., MMA., Ph.D., Dr. Minsarnawati, S.K.M., M.Kes., and Baequni, S.K.M., M.Kes., Ph.D. The speakers provided comprehensive presentations on nutrition management, early identification of stunting risk, and community intervention strategies. They also emphasized that the ability of cadres to consistently monitor growth and provide nutritional counseling is crucial for successfully reducing stunting rates in the community.

This activity is part of the 2025 Community Service Program for the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Jakarta under the leadership of Karyadi, S.Kp., M.Kep., Ph.D., Head of Community Service at the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The Dean of FIKES, Prof. Dr. Zilhadia, M.Sc., expressed his appreciation and emphasized that strengthening health cadres is a fundamental step in reducing the risk of stunting and creating a healthier and more prosperous society.
With comprehensive training, cross-institutional synergy, and active student involvement, stunting prevention and management efforts in Cisauk Village are expected to be more effective, sustainable, and have a significant impact on maternal and child health. (UK)
