“My Kitchen, My Pharmacy”: Bringing Local Wisdom to Life for the Health of the Cisauk Community
FIKES Online News — The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again introduced an innovation in its Community Service (Pengmas) program through the "Dapurku Apotekku" (My Kitchen, My Pharmacy) program, held in Cisauk Village, Tangerang Regency. This program aims to optimize community-based health efforts by utilizing traditional ingredients easily found in household kitchens. Monday (1/12/2025)
This activity encourages the community and health cadres to understand that the kitchen is a "natural pharmacy" rich in beneficial spices. In line with the increasing trend of herbal drinks as trendy beverages, this program not only encourages healthy lifestyles but also opens up economic opportunities based on local wisdom.
The activity was supported by Blue Gas, which provided facilities for hands-on herbal medicine (jamu) preparation on-site. Participants learned to mix various traditional herbal medicines, such as turmeric and tamarind jamu (jamu kunyit asam), rice kencur (rice ginger), immune jamu (jamu imun), and JST (red ginger, lemongrass, and Javanese ginger). Each concoction is guided by an explanation of the health benefits, from increasing metabolism, relieving pain, strengthening the immune system, to maintaining digestive and liver health.

To enrich participants' knowledge, this activity featured speakers with expertise in herbal medicine and phytochemistry. Eka Putri, M.Si., Apt., Adha Dastu Illahi, S.Farm., and Hendri Aldrat, S.Si., M.Si., presented on the active ingredients of spices, proper processing methods, and their use in everyday life. The practical explanations helped participants further understand how kitchen ingredients can provide simple yet effective health solutions.
This Community Service Program is part of a series of FIKES UIN Jakarta activities for 2025, led by Karyadi, S.Kp., M.Kep., Ph.D., as Head of Community Service. Meanwhile, the Vice Dean III of FIKES, Dr. Ns. Uswatun Khasanah, S.Kep., MNS, served as the activity manager and ensured the program's effective and targeted implementation.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Zilhadia, M.Sc., expressed his deep appreciation for the implementation of this activity. He hopes the "Dapurku Apotekku" program will continue and provide tangible benefits to the health and well-being of the community.
"Herbal drinks are now a trendy beverage trend. If people can process them well, this can be a promising business opportunity while preserving the tradition of herbal medicine as a national heritage," he said.
With a spirit of empowerment and collaboration, the "Dapurku Apotekku" program is expected to encourage people to live healthier, more independent, and empowered lives through the utilization of Indonesia's rich spices. (UK)
