South Tangerang, FIKES Online News, - Lengkong Wetan Village, Student News — Field Learning Experience (PBL) students from Group 7 of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta implemented the CEKAT (Prevent & Control TB) health intervention program in neighborhood unit (RW) 10, Lengkong Wetan Village, Serpong District, South Tangerang City, on Wednesday (February 4, 2026). This program emphasized strengthening the capacity of cadres and utilizing educational media as the primary strategy for community-based tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control.

The CEKAT intervention was developed based on the results of Field Learning Experience (PBL) I and the Rapid Epidemiological Survey (SCE), which indicated limited exposure to TB information and low utilization of educational media.

As an initial step in the intervention, PBL Group 7 students conducted a mini-briefing for cadres to strengthen the role of health cadres at the neighborhood (RW) level. This activity aimed to improve cadres' understanding of TB materials while also training their skills in delivering health education systematically and communicatively using flipcharts, or flipcharts developed by the students.

The flipcharts were designed with simple, informative, and easy-to-understand visuals, allowing them to be used repeatedly by cadres in various community activities. This helped cadres structure the presentation of TB materials, including the definition of TB, transmission methods, symptoms, prevention efforts, cough etiquette, and the importance of testing and treatment adherence.

Following the mini-briefing for cadres, the intervention continued with direct education for the community of RW 10, held after the Majelis Ta'lim (Islamic study group) activity at the Al Jabar prayer room. In this activity, cadres served as the primary educators, while students acted as facilitators. Delivering materials using flipcharts was deemed effective in increasing interaction, clarifying health messages, and encouraging active community participation through discussion and question-and-answer sessions.

To reinforce health messages, PBL Group 7 students also distributed TB educational calendars to the target community. These calendars serve as daily reminders at home, ensuring ongoing retention of information on TB prevention and control.

Through a combination of mini-briefings for cadres, community education, and the use of educational media, the CEKAT program is expected to increase the effectiveness of health interventions, strengthen the role of cadres as the spearhead of health promotion, and encourage changes in TB prevention behavior in the community. This program demonstrates the implementation of a media-based promotive and preventive approach by PBL Group 7 students from UIN Jakarta at the community level. (PBL Group 7)
