Dr. Adi Riyadhi, M.Si, the resource person for this activity, said that Occupational Safety and Health (K3) in the laboratory is very important to prevent accidents and occupational diseases. Pharmaceutical laboratories have various risks that must be managed properly. According to him, the various risks faced by workers in the laboratory include chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial risks. To manage and prevent these risks, Adi suggested several strategies, namely: (1) Using Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), (2) Providing Ventilation and Laboratory Safety Equipment, (3) Routine Training for Laboratory Personnel, (4) Safe Storage and Handling of Hazardous Materials, (5) Implementation of SOPs for Each Experimental Procedure, and (6) Periodic Evaluation and Monitoring of the Work Environment.

"The implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) in pharmaceutical laboratories is very important to maintain the safety of workers and the environment. Technology, such as Meta AI and ChatGPT, can help manage complex risks," he said.

In closing, Adi said that the commitment of all laboratory personnel is needed to implement K3 consistently. Periodic evaluation and training are also very important to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the K3 program.

With this activity, it is hoped that students and laboratory assistants can better understand the importance of implementing K3 principles. Implementing the right strategy, risks in the fikes pharmaceutical laboratory can be minimized, thus creating a safe, healthy and productive work environment. (JH/ZR)
