SNSD 2026: Supporting Public Health Students in Choosing Their Specializations

FIKES Online News – The Sharing and Socialization of Department (SNSD) 2026 was successfully conducted under the theme “NEXORA (Next Exploration of Public Health Aspirations)”. This event was designed as an informative platform to provide students with insights, understanding, and comprehensive knowledge about the various specializations available in the Public Health Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Through this program, participants gained detailed explanations regarding the focus of each specialization, the competencies to be developed, and the roles and contributions of each field within public health. In addition, the event aimed to help students understand academic pathways while recognizing their own interests and potential, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future specialization.

The one-day event was attended by 83 fourth-semester students of the Public Health Study Program, who will soon determine their area of specialization in the upcoming semester. The event was successfully carried out with high enthusiasm from all participants.

The activity began in the morning with participant registration. The opening session was formally led by the Master of Ceremony (MC), followed by the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and the singing of the Indonesian national anthem (Indonesia Raya), the UIN Hymn, and the FIKES March. The presence of the Chief Organizer, the Head of HMPSKM, and the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs—who delivered their welcoming remarks—further motivated students to thoughtfully consider their specialization choices.

Before entering the main session, participants were asked to complete a pre-test to assess their initial understanding of the available specializations within the Public Health Study Program.

The core activity consisted of material presentations from seven Organizations of Specialization and Scientific Interest (OPK), namely BIOMATICA, ESA, ENVIHSA, HACAMSA, HPSA, FSK3, and STAR. Each OPK provided a comprehensive overview of their respective specialization, including definitions, scope of study, prerequisite courses, subjects offered in semesters 5, 6, and 7, teaching lecturers, career opportunities, and organizational experiences within each field.

Throughout the session, participants actively engaged in the presentations and participated in interactive question-and-answer discussions. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident as they asked insightful questions to deepen their understanding of each specialization.

Following the material sessions, participants completed a post-test to evaluate their understanding after attending the presentations. This was followed by an ISHOMA break (rest, prayer, and meal).

The next segment of the event featured the OPK Booth Sessions, where participants had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with representatives from each specialization. This interactive session allowed students to explore more detailed information and gain deeper insights tailored to their interests.

Participants were then invited to complete a specialization interest survey, which aimed to identify their preferences after attending all sessions, including the presentations and booth interactions.

The event concluded with the announcement of the most active participants, a closing prayer, and a group photo session.

With the successful implementation of SNSD 2026, it is expected that participants have gained a deeper understanding of the characteristics, scope, and career prospects of each specialization within the Public Health Study Program. Furthermore, students are encouraged to recognize their individual interests and potential, enabling them to make well-informed and suitable decisions regarding their chosen specialization. (ZR)
