STEADS 2025: FDT FIKes UIN Jakarta Educates Students Through Emergency Simulations and Training
Pamulang, Online Fikes News, — In order to commemorate Disaster Preparedness Day (HKB) which falls in April, the FIKes Disaster Responder Team (FDT) of the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a School for Training in Emergency and Disaster Simulations (STEADS) activity on Saturday, April 26, 2025. This activity took place at SMA Muhammadiyah 25 Pamulang and involved dozens of high school students and equivalent. Saturday (4/26/2025)
With the theme RESCUE (Respond Early to Save and Care in Urgent Emergencies), STEADS aims to improve students' understanding and preparedness in dealing with emergency and disaster situations. Through direct training and simulations, students are invited to recognize potential risks, understand emergency response actions, and build independent skills in disaster management.
The series of events began with remarks from various parties involved in this activity. The Chairperson of the STEADS Executive Committee, La Aliya Nadhifa, in her remarks conveyed the importance of early disaster education, especially for the younger generation as part of sustainable disaster mitigation efforts. The Chairperson of FDT, Hasna Afra Setiadin, added that this activity is a form of student contribution in building community resilience through an educational and participatory approach.
Speeches were also delivered by the FDT Supervisor of the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Jakarta, the Principal of SMA Muhammadiyah 25 Pamulang, and the Head of BPBD Tangerang Selatan City who welcomed this activity and hoped that this kind of collaboration could continue in the future.
On a separate occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M. Si., expressed his appreciation for the FDT initiative in organizing STEADS. "This activity reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Health Sciences to not only produce competent health workers, but also play an active role in strengthening the capacity of the community to face disasters. Our students are trained to be sensitive, responsive, and solution-oriented in emergency situations," he said. In line with this, the Deputy Dean III for Student Affairs, Dr. Ns. Uswatun Khasanah, MNS., emphasized that STEADS is a real manifestation of the development of students' soft skills in leadership, teamwork, and community service. "We encourage students to continue to innovate and contribute in real ways through disaster education-based activities like this. This is part of character education which is important in the world of health," he said.
Through STEADS activities, students not only learn theory but also practice directly various emergency response procedures, ranging from independent evacuation, first aid, to disaster management simulations. It is hoped that with this training, students have physical and mental readiness in dealing with crisis situations that may occur in their surroundings. (zr)
