Strengthening Global Competence: UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) Students Participate in Academic Mobility Programs at Three Malaysian Campuses from November to December 2025
FIKES News Online – The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is once again strengthening its internationalization efforts by holding the 2025 Student Mobility Program in Malaysia. Fifteen selected students will be sent to participate in academic and cultural activities at three leading universities in Malaysia: UCSI University, Management and Science University (MSU), and the University of Malaya (UM). The program will take place from November to December 2025, with different schedules at each university.

This program is part of the internationalization of education, providing students with academic and professional experiences to develop global insight, cross-cultural adaptation skills, and competencies that meet international standards.
The program is divided into three departure waves:
Wave 1 – UCSI University (November 3–28, 2025)
In the first wave, three students from the Pharmacy Professional Program participated in a 3-Week Student Mobility Program at UCSI University, Malaysia. Activities included: Hospital Pharmacy Internship, Community Pharmacy Internship, and Pharmaceutical Industry Visit.

This program aims to strengthen students' pharmacy practice experience and provide first-hand understanding of international pharmaceutical service standards.
Dikka Ananda, a student in the Pharmacist Professional Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, stated that his participation in the Student Mobility Program at UCSI Hospital Malaysia was a very valuable experience. The program opened students' minds to the implementation of professional, internationally standardized pharmaceutical services, including prescription review, drug therapy management, hospital management aspects, and compounding workshops.
Furthermore, the program was deemed effective in improving clinical analysis skills, understanding evidence-based medicine, and broadening perspectives on the Malaysian healthcare system. With supportive preceptor guidance and a conducive learning environment, the program also fostered work ethics, discipline, team collaboration, and a memorable cultural experience, equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become professional pharmacists.
Meanwhile, Rizky Lestari revealed that during the 20-day Pharmacist Student Mobility Program, she had the opportunity to learn firsthand from pharmaceutical practice in Malaysia. This program provided insight into the pharmaceutical service system, regulations, and the role of pharmacists in professional and standardized healthcare services. This experience provided valuable insight into growing as a globally-minded pharmacist. He also expressed his gratitude for the extraordinary opportunity and support from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
Wave 2 – Management and Science University (MSU) (November 17–28, 2025)
The second wave included eight students from the Nursing, Public Health, and Pharmacy study programs in a 2-Week Student Mobility Program on Interprofessional Collaboration for Health Professionals.
Activities included: lectures and scientific discussions, hospital and community visits, interprofessional collaboration workshops, and drafting of scientific publications.

Peserta: Puti Anjani Octoverina, Annisa Putri Az-Zuhrah, Ibrahim Rafi Rohadian, Callista Felicia Hartanto, Najipah Nur Aprilia Harahap, Resti Amelia Putri, Nasywa Durrun Ainaani, dan Novi Fitriani.
This program is designed to enhance students' understanding of collaboration between healthcare professionals and strengthen their communication and collaboration skills across professions.

One participant, Putri Anjani Octoverina, a nursing student at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), revealed that her experience at the Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia, had opened up new insights into collaborative practices among healthcare professionals internationally. She added that FIKES students at UIN Jakarta also participated in activities with students and lecturers from Burapha University, Thailand—an interaction that enriched their perspectives on the dynamics of cross-border healthcare education.

Wave 3 – University of Malaya (UM) (December 1–12, 2025)
The third wave will be held at the University of Malaya, Malaysia's top university, ranked 58th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2026). Four Pharmacy students will undertake a two-week research program in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Life Science, and Clinical Pharmacy.
The students will be directly supervised by lecturers from UM and UIN Jakarta. The research findings are expected to be developed into theses and published in international scientific journals.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Zilhadia, M.Sc., emphasized that student participation in the Student Mobility Program in Malaysia is a concrete manifestation of the faculty's internationalization strategy. This program is not only designed to strengthen global competitiveness and enhance the institution's reputation regionally, but also to equip students with international competencies relevant to today's dynamic healthcare landscape.
More than just a cross-border academic experience, this activity is also expected to broaden students' global perspectives and serve as a gateway to various strategic initiatives, such as international research collaborations, joint scientific publications, and the development of future cross-institutional educational programs.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, who is also the person in charge of the program, Dr. Ns. Uswatun Khasanah, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.MB., also stated that internationalization is not merely an institutional target, but a strategic necessity to prepare future healthcare workers who are adaptable, highly competitive, and ready to contribute globally.

We hope that through the Student Mobility 2025 program, students will bring home knowledge, skills, and global perspectives that will benefit their academic and professional development. This activity will not only enrich them but also contribute to the advancement of healthcare in Indonesia. (JH)
