Strengthening Health Literacy and Resilience, the Master of Public Health Program Holds a Webinar on Cancer

FIKES Online News - The Master of Public Health Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again held the 10th Webinar Talkshow Series, which was combined with a Virtual Open House, on Thursday, July 23, 2026. This event was held online via Zoom Meeting. Themed "The Cancer Disaster is Imminent: Understanding Risks, Understanding Culture, and Strengthening Health Resilience," this webinar provided a discussion forum that brought together multidisciplinary public health perspectives to understand the challenges of cancer as an increasingly complex global and national health problem.

This webinar featured three speakers from the Master of Public Health Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta: Fajar Ariyanti, Minsarnawati, and M. Farid Hamzens. The webinar was moderated by Sufyan Suri, a student in the Master of Public Health Study Program at UIN Jakarta.

The theme of this webinar reflects the urgency of raising public awareness of the threat of cancer, which not only impacts individuals but also has broad social, economic, and public health consequences. Through an epidemiological perspective, participants were invited to understand cancer incidence trends, risk factors, and the importance of evidence-based promotive and preventive efforts. Furthermore, existing cancer prevention and management programs in Indonesia were reviewed. Meanwhile, a health anthropology perspective provided an understanding of how cultural factors, beliefs, and public health behaviors influence how cancer is perceived, detected, and treated.

The Head of the Master of Public Health Study Program at UIN Jakarta, Fajar Ariyanti, also introduced the program in more detail during the Virtual Open House session. Participants received information about the program's vision and strengths, curriculum, areas of interest, and various academic and professional development opportunities offered to prospective students.

The Virtual Open House demonstrates the commitment of the UIN Jakarta Master of Public Health Study Program to provide wider public access to information regarding postgraduate education in public health. This event also provides an opportunity for participants to directly discuss the lecture process, learning experiences, and the contributions of Master of Public Health graduates in addressing various public health challenges in Indonesia.

Through the Webinar Talkshow Series #10 and this Virtual Open House, the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Master of Public Health Study Program hopes to continue contributing to improving public health literacy and raising awareness of the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in addressing the threat of cancer. In addition to serving as a platform for knowledge dissemination, this event is also expected to inspire collaboration and innovation in public health that will impact the wider community.
