Strengthening the Integration of Science and Islam, the Public Health Study Program Holds a General Studium on Ecosophy from a Public Health Perspective

Fikes Online News - To support the vision of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, namely the integration of health science and Islamic aspects, the Public Health Study Program recently held a general studium with the theme "Ecosophy from a Public Health Science Perspective: Integration of Spirituality and Environmental Health." Held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the MK Tajuddin Auditorium, this event was a collaboration between the Public Health Study Program and the Public Health Study Program Student Association (HMPSKM). The event was attended by the Vice Dean of FIKES for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nurmeilis, M.Si., the Head of the Public Health Study Program, Raihana Nadra Alkaff, PhD, lecturers, and Public Health students.

The event aimed to present the concept of ecosophy and its relevance to environmental health and human well-being. Furthermore, it was hoped that this event would increase understanding of how spirituality can contribute to environmental health efforts. Another goal was to open discussions on the role of the health community in integrating ecosophy principles into public health policy. It is hoped that this understanding will provide a distinctive characteristic that distinguishes UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Public Health alumni from alumni of Public Health study programs from other universities.

The event opened with a recitation of verses from the Quran by Alya Maulidina, a student representative from HMPSKM. The event continued with remarks by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Health, Dr. Nurmeilis, M.Si. In her remarks, Nurmeilis expressed her appreciation for the Public Health Study Program's initiative in introducing the concept of scientific and Islamic integration, especially to new students.

Next, Izza Hananingtyas, a lecturer who recently completed her doctoral studies, explained the concept of ecosophy, which is part of her dissertation.

The participants showed enthusiasm throughout the event. Several students asked critical questions about the topics presented.
