The event was symbolically opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Jakarta, represented by Vice Dean II Prof. Dr. Yuli Amran, M.KM., who stated that this general studium was an effort to raise awareness among the academic community regarding the importance of implementing environmentally friendly principles on campus. Through this activity, students, lecturers, educational staff, and all elements of the university were encouraged to understand that the green campus concept is not just a physical program, but an integral part of an academic lifestyle that must be consistently developed.

Three speakers were invited to speak at this event: Prof. Hendrawati, M.Si., representing the Green Campus of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta; Dewi Utami Iriani, PhD., an Environmental Health Expert from the Public Health Study Program, FIKES UIN Jakarta; and Faiza Fauziah, S.Si., MBA., the founder of EcoDeen. The presentation was moderated by Ms. Dela Aristi, M.KM. Hendrawati, MSi, highlighted the role of the academic community, especially students, as agents of change and internalizing green campus efforts in their daily lives. Next, Faiza Fauziah, S.Si, MBA, presented the ethics of environmental stewardship based on an Islamic perspective. Humans are given the right to use the environment, as written and interpreted in the Quran. Humans are caliphs (khalifah) who are obliged to maintain the balance of nature by prospering the earth and avoiding environmental damage. The final speaker, Dewi Utami Iriani, PhD, presented a waste management strategy by practicing composting using various materials, which was directly simulated during the activity.

Another point of discussion was that a green campus is a campus management approach oriented towards environmental sustainability. This concept encompasses energy savings, waste management, efficient water use, greening campus spaces, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and integrating environmental issues into education, research, and community service.

The speaker also emphasized that environmental culture in higher education must begin with simple behavioral changes. Students and faculty can play a role by bringing tumblers, sorting waste, using paper wisely, turning off electricity after use, keeping classrooms clean, and actively participating in campus greening activities. These small habits, when implemented collectively, can have a significant impact on creating a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable campus environment.

The participants' enthusiasm was evident in the lively discussion. Several participants shared their views on the challenges of implementing a green campus. They noted the ongoing lack of maintenance on campus, including facilities like water refill stations for drinking water, and suboptimal waste disposal sites (TPSTM), part of campus waste management. This necessitates the crucial role and collaboration of various units within the campus. The discussion demonstrated that environmental issues are shared concerns that require commitment, exemplary behavior, and the participation of the entire academic community.

This Studium General activity provides a crucial opportunity to strengthen our shared commitment to making a green campus part of our academic lifestyle. By building awareness, fostering habits, and strengthening policies, universities can play a significant role in creating a healthy, productive, and sustainable learning environment. (SRHL)
