FIKES Online News— As part of the 2026 Field Learning Experience program, Public Health students from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held an intervention program called JAWARA TB (Jaringan Warga Sadar Bahaya TB). This program was designed as a strategy to address the Tuberculosis (TB) problem identified in RW 02, Lengkong Gudang Village, Serpong, South Tangerang. This program involved various parties, including academics, village officials, the Lengkong Wetan Community Health Center (Puskesmas), health cadres, RW (neighborhood unit) heads, RT (neighborhood unit) heads, and the local community. This collaboration is key to strengthening TB control efforts at the community level. Thursday (February 8, 2026)

This program aims to increase community awareness and knowledge regarding TB prevention behaviors through media-based health promotion interventions, including face-to-face health education, leaflets, and invitations to display stickers displaying commitments to TB prevention behaviors in residents' homes. The materials and leaflets included in this activity provided educational information on the definition, transmission, symptoms, examination, treatment, prevention, and myths and facts about tuberculosis.

The JAWARA TB activity was held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the residence of the Head of Neighborhood Association (RW) 02, Lengkong Gudang Village. Twenty participants from various neighborhood associations (RTs) attended the event. The event began at 9:00 a.m. WIB, opened by the MC. The TB education presentation began at 10:08 a.m. WIB and was delivered by Baequni, S.K.M., M.Kes., Ph.D. In her presentation, she explained that TB is an infectious disease that is currently a major health problem in Indonesia. She emphasized that economic factors and low community discipline, such as poor household hygiene and non-compliance with medication, contribute to the high TB incidence rate. She also linked the importance of discipline to the exemplary values of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), stating that discipline is inherent in a Muslim and can bring positive changes in life, including maintaining personal and environmental health. The public is also reminded to look after and care for each other as a form of TB prevention effort.

The event continued with a socialization of the JAWARA TB follow-up program, marked by the distribution of stickers and leaflets to participants. The PBL committee, group 8, then encouraged all participants to participate in the activity by reading and distributing the material on the leaflet and affixing TB commitment stickers to their homes. The stickers symbolized the participants' commitment to actively participate in TB prevention in their home environment, while the leaflets were distributed so that the information gained could be continuously understood and implemented. The event concluded with a prayer, followed by the distribution of masks and hand sanitizer to all participants, and a documentation session. Through this JAWARA TB activity, it is hoped that the community of RW 02, Lengkong Gudang Village, can become agents of change in TB prevention and control efforts in their surrounding areas.

The next activity was the door-to-door distribution of leaflets, commitment stickers, and souvenirs in the form of masks and hand sanitizer to residents of RW 02. Subsequently, on February 5, 2026, PBL group 8 conducted a post-test and monitored TB prevention behaviors among 20 respondents who had completed the pre-test via Google Form. The instrument consisted of a TB prevention behavior checklist completed by residents participating in the JAWARA TB program.

The JAWARA TB program received a very positive response from the community. This was evidenced by post-test reviews that expressed community satisfaction with the activities implemented. The community considered the program beneficial, easy to understand, and relevant to their needs in tuberculosis prevention. Through the JAWARA TB program, Group 8 of the 2026 Public Health Student Learning Program (PBL) from UIN Jakarta hopes that the community will become more aware of environmental health and play an active role in breaking the chain of tuberculosis transmission. This program also represents a concrete step in supporting Indonesia's TB elimination target. (PBL Group 8)
