TBC COMPLETE: PBL Students Group 3 UIN Jakarta Forms a TB Cadre Team in Pondok Benda Subdistrict

South Tangerang, FIKES Online News - The Public Health Study Program of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is conducting a Field Learning Experience (PBL) in South Tangerang City, specifically in Pamulang District, Pondok Benda Village. This activity integrates community service and field practice, specifically for sixth-semester students. The focus of this activity is on Tuberculosis (TB), with the aim of determining priority problems and alternative solutions in Pondok Benda Village.

Based on field data collection, it was discovered that the priority problem in Pondok Benda Village is the lack of TB cadres. Therefore, PBL Group 3 introduced the TUNTAS (Find, Strive, Navigate, Treat, Monitor, and Cure) intervention program by establishing a TUNTAS TB Cadre Team from each neighborhood unit (RW) in Pondok Benda Village. The TUNTAS program is implemented with 3 series of activities, namely Socialization of the TUNTAS TBC Cadre Team Formation Intervention Program, Counseling for the TUNTAS TBC Cadre Team, and Inauguration of the TUNTAS TBC Cadre Team as well as Provision of Pocket Books and Declaration of TB-Free RW.

The outreach activities aimed to communicate the TUNTAS Program to stakeholders and health cadres in Pondok Benda Village. This helped to increase understanding of the local TB situation, strengthen the role of cadres and the community, and support case detection, treatment adherence, and TB transmission prevention efforts.

This activity was realized through a Village Coordination Meeting (Rakorkel) in Pondok Benda Village on Friday, January 30, 2026. The Rakorkel forum was chosen to reach cross-sector stakeholders, as the event was attended by village officials, community health centers (Puskesmas), and local health cadres.

The next series of activities included a TUNTAS TBC Cadre Team Outreach program held on Monday, February 2, 2026, to improve the TB cadre team's basic knowledge and skills in TB prevention and control efforts in Pondok Benda Village.

The counseling session was delivered by two speakers: the Faculty Supervisor, who presented Basic Information on TB, and the Acting TB Officer of Pondok Benda Community Health Center, who presented the Role and Responsibilities of the TUNTAS TBC Cadre Team. Knowledge was assessed based on Pre-Post-Test scores administered before the presentation and after the Q&A session. Following the counseling session, the series of activities continued with the inauguration of the cadres.

The inauguration of the TB Cadre Team was held simultaneously with the Declaration of TB-Free Neighborhoods (RW) and the distribution of cadre pocketbooks on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Pondok Benda Village Hall. This activity was part of an effort to strengthen the role of the community, working together across sectors, in integrated and sustainable TB control.

The inauguration of the TUNTAS TBC Cadre Team aims to strengthen the role of cadres through the inauguration and confirmation process, demonstrating legality, recognition of their role, and shared commitment. Cadres not only function voluntarily, but also have a clear role foundation in supporting the TB program.

The sustainability of the TB Cadre Team is supported by regular capacity building through cadre training, technical guidance, and evaluation of task implementation. Ongoing training is expected to optimize the cadre's role in community education, patient support, and active TB case detection.

The Head of the Community Health Center emphasized that "The TB Cadre Team is crucial as an extension of the Community Health Center in educating the community, supporting TB patients, and actively detecting cases in the community's neighborhood. This serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection, especially for residents experiencing a cough that lasts more than two weeks, so they can be immediately referred for testing."

Another activity, in addition to the cadre inauguration, was the Declaration of a TB-Free Neighborhood Unit (RW) by RW 09, RW 08, and RW 03. This declaration demonstrates the support and commitment of the RW community to sustainable TB control and prevention efforts at the regional level.

To reinforce this commitment, representatives of the RW signed the TB-Free Neighborhood Unit (RW) commitment, symbolizing their readiness and shared responsibility in supporting TB elimination.

The final series of activities included the distribution of pocket books and certificates to the TB Cadre Team. The distribution of these pocket books aims to provide practical guidance for cadres in carrying out their duties in the field, from TB education and patient support to coordination with the Community Health Center (Puskesmas).

Overall, this activity demonstrated the synergy between the Puskesmas, sub-district, neighborhood unit (RW), and the community in TB control efforts. This represents a strategic step in strengthening commitment, increasing community participation, and supporting the sustainability of the TB control program in Pondok Benda Village. (PBL Group 3)
