The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Jakarta and Community Health Centers Near Campus Hold Focus Group Discussions to Strengthen Collaboration in Community Service

South Tangerang, FIKES News online, – The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with four community health centers (Puskesmas) around the campus on Monday (July 6, 2026): Ciputat Timur Community Health Center, Pondok Cabe Ilir Community Health Center, Cirendeu Community Health Center, and Pisangan Community Health Center. This activity is part of FIKES UIN Jakarta's commitment to strengthening synergy with surrounding health care facilities to produce more targeted community service programs that provide tangible benefits to the community.

This FGD was initiated as an effort to map various health issues faced by the community around the campus, while also bridging collaboration between the academic world and primary health care. Through this forum, FIKES UIN Jakarta hopes to develop community service programs that are based on real needs and can make a more optimal contribution to improving public health.

In his remarks, Prof. Zilhadia, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, emphasized the importance of building close collaboration between universities and surrounding community health centers (Puskesmas) as strategic partners in addressing various public health issues.

During the discussion session, each head of the community health center (Puskesmas) outlined various health challenges faced in their respective areas. Various public health issues emerged during the forum and became a shared concern. Some of the issues highlighted included the high number of tuberculosis (TB) cases, the increase in diabetes mellitus (DM) cases, and issues of air pollution and water quality, which have the potential to impact public health.

In addition to presenting an overview of the health conditions in their respective areas, the heads of the community health centers also provided input regarding the need for health interventions that universities could support through education, research, and community service activities. The discussion forum was interactive, with an exchange of ideas regarding possible forms of collaboration that could be implemented sustainably.

The results of this FGD will be used by FIKES UIN Jakarta to develop community service concepts and programs that are more relevant to the needs of the local community. The various inputs provided by the community health centers will be followed up through activity planning, which is expected to provide solutions to the priority health issues that have been jointly identified.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Jakarta affirms its commitment to continue being present and contributing to the surrounding community as part of its responsibility as a higher education institution. Collaboration with community health centers in the surrounding areas is expected to be the first step in developing more effective, sustainable, and impactful health programs for the community.
