The Faculty of Health Sciences of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Showcases Leading Innovations at AICIS 2025
FIKES Online News – The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta participated in the prestigious 24th Annual International Conference on Islam, Science, and Society (AICIS+) 2025, held from October 29–31, 2025, at the International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII), Depok.
At this annual international conference, FIKES UIN Jakarta showcased various innovative works combining science, research, and Islamic values. Some of the featured innovations on display included:
Goat Skin Gelatin: A Science-Based Halal Alternative
One innovation that attracted attention was goat skin gelatin, the result of research by Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M.Si. This product offers an alternative source of halal gelatin from herbivorous animals other than cattle. With its good physicochemical characteristics, this gelatin has great potential for use in the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetics industries. One product produced from this gelatin is the capsule shell, which is used as a packaging for medicines in capsule form. This innovation has obtained a patent with Number IDP000072472, confirming FIKES' contribution to the development of science-based halal materials.

Kaolin-Based Soap Tablets: A Solution for Purifying Dogs' Impurities
Pharmacy student Muhammad Kevin Fardany, under the guidance of Yuni Anggraeni, M.Farm., Apt., and Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M.Sc., introduced kaolin-based soap tablets as a solution for purifying dogs' impurities. This product was developed based on the Islamic scholar's view that soil substitutes should contain soil as the main component. Research results show that these tablets contain up to 55% kaolin, have high cleaning power, do not cause skin irritation, and are effective in eliminating bacteria from dog saliva. This innovation has the potential to be a practical, safe, and halal-compliant alternative for purifying dogs.

Android Application for Industrial Hygiene
From the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) field, Dr. Iting Shofwati, ST, MKKK, HIU, also presented her work in the form of an Android application developed for industrial hygiene. This application is designed to simplify the digital monitoring and management of workplace risks.

Academic Products from the Pharmaceutical Laboratory
The FIKES Pharmaceutical Laboratory also exhibited various academic products developed by students, such as natural aromatherapy candles (hand-poured soy candles with natural essential oils) and various pharmaceutical preparations including syrups, creams, ointments, and gels. These aromatherapy candles are designed not only as aesthetic products but also have real benefits in everyday life, such as helping reduce stress and anxiety, improving mood and sleep quality, and creating a naturally relaxing atmosphere in the room. The entire manufacturing process is carried out in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) principles, using active ingredients and actual pharmaceutical equipment. Students are trained in weighing, mixing, packaging, and designing informative and attractive product labels.

In addition to innovative works and academic products, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta also showcases a number of books and scientific journals written by lecturers that have been published nationally and internationally. These publications reflect the intellectual wealth and academic contributions of FIKES lecturers in the fields of health, pharmacy, occupational safety, and the integration of science and Islamic values.

The participation of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in AICIS 2025 demonstrates the faculty's commitment to promoting innovation based on research and Islamic values. This involvement also strengthens UIN's position as a center for the integration of science and Islam at the national and global levels. (JH)
