UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Health Sciences Explores Strategic Cooperation with PT Gemma Natura Lestari

Ciputat, Online Fikes News,- The Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta continues to strengthen synergies with industry through a strategic visit to PT Gemma Natura Lestari, an innovative company in the field of cosmetics and personal care, Tuesday (1/10/2024).

The visit took place at the PT Gemma Natura Lestari factory, located at Jl. Pancasila I, Cicadas, Gunung Putri, Bogor Regency, West Java. The delegation of FIKES UIN Jakarta was led by Dean Prof. Dr. apt. Zilhadia, M.Si., accompanied by Vice Dean I Dr. apt. Nurmeilis, M.Si., Head of the Pharmacy Study Programme, apt. Ismiarni Komala, M.Sc., PhD, and academic staff Julia herniwati, S.kom, M.M. Their arrival was warmly welcomed by the management of PT Gemma Natura Lestari who confirmed their commitment to research-based innovation.

During the visit, the group witnessed the cosmetics production process, starting from the selection of raw materials, formulation, to the final stage of production that prioritises high quality standards. Discussions were also held regarding potential cooperation in research, product downstreaming, and internship programmes for Fikes students.

The Dean of Fikes UIN Jakarta stated that this collaboration is a strategic step to develop research-based innovation in the field of cosmetics and health. ‘We see PT Gemma Natura Lestari as a potential partner in supporting applicative research and providing valuable industrial experience for students,’ said Prof Zilhadia.

Responding to this, representatives of PT Gemma Natura Lestari, Junaidi S.Si., apt. and apt. Hefriyan Handra, M.Sc., M.Kes welcomed this collaboration opportunity. ‘We are open to working with academic institutions to create material-based innovations. In addition, we would like to contribute to human resource development through internship programmes and industrial training for students,’ they said.

The visit concluded with a discussion of concrete steps in realising the collaboration, including joint research, utilisation of industrial laboratory facilities, and student internship mechanisms. Both parties are optimistic that this synergy will bring great benefits to the academic world and the cosmetics industry.
