FIKES Online News - The Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, through its "Pharmacy Study Program," held a Studium Generale on Saturday, November 22, 2025, featuring Prof. Abdul Rohman from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), a leading speaker among the world's Top 2% Scientists 2025, as published by Stanford University. The event, themed "Productive Publication Through Meta-Analysis and Systematic Literature Review," was attended by lecturers, students, and administrative staff enthusiastically deepening their knowledge of scientific article writing.

The event opened with the recitation of verses from the Quran by Pharmacy students, followed by remarks from the Dean of FIKES, "Prof. Dr. Apt. Zilhadia, M.Si." The presentation was moderated by "apt. Hendri Aldrat, M.Si," a pharmacy lecturer at UIN Jakarta, followed by the guest speaker. In his presentation, Prof. Abdul Rohman explained that review articles are one of the most strategic scientific works for increasing academic contributions due to their high citation rate. Many reputable international journals are currently actively calling for papers in the review category in an effort to increase their impact factor.

He emphasized that preparing a review article must begin with selecting the right topic, namely one with a much greater amount of original research than published review articles. This selection can be guided by Scopus data and the topic feasibility graph based on Pautasso's Graph.

Prof. Abdul Rohman also comprehensively outlined the differences between review types, such as narrative reviews, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and meta-analyses. Each has its own procedures, levels of evidence, and writing structure. For systematic reviews and meta-analyses, authors are advised to follow the PRISMA guidelines, the international standard for preparing systematic review reports.

Participants also received technical guidance on conducting literature searches using at least two major databases—such as Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science—using Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT). Other critical steps included selecting articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, eliminating duplication, assessing bias, and developing a logical and coherent paper structure.

At the end of the session, the resource person emphasized the importance of conducting internal review before submitting a manuscript to a journal. Input from peers or native English speakers is crucial in minimizing errors, ambiguities, and inconsistencies in a manuscript.

Through this Studium Generale, FIKES UIN Jakarta hopes to improve the academic capacity of its academic community, particularly in producing high-quality, internationally recognized review articles with a high chance of being accepted into reputable journals. This activity represents a concrete step by the study program in supporting the improvement of the quality of research and scientific publications on campus. (MM)
