Webinar on “Health Promotion Program Management” Discusses Health Promotion Policies in Eastern Indonesia
FIKES Online News – The Health Promotion concentration of the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, held a webinar titled “Health Promotion Program Management” with the theme “Health Promotion Policies in Eastern Indonesia and Their Implementation” on Friday, October 10, 2025. The event was conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The webinar featured Dr. Nur Rohmah, S.KM., M.Kes., Ph.D, a lecturer from Universitas Mulawarman, Samarinda, as the guest speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. Riastuti K.W., MKM., Ph.D, the course instructor for Health Promotion Program Management, and attended by students of the Public Health Study Program, particularly those specializing in Health Promotion.
In her presentation, Dr. Nur Rohmah explained that health promotion policies in Eastern Indonesia possess unique characteristics and challenges compared to other regions. These challenges include limited human resources, restricted access to health services, and the influence of local socio-cultural factors. She emphasized the importance of culturally grounded health promotion strategies to ensure that health messages are better received and adopted by local communities.
Furthermore, she highlighted that the implementation of health promotion policies requires a cross-sectoral and participatory approach, positioning communities as the central agents of behavioral change. Health professionals, she noted, should act as facilitators who empower communities to recognize their own potentials and needs.
Dr. Nur Rohmah also shared several best practices from health promotion programs in Eastern Indonesia, such as community empowerment initiatives aimed at preventing stunting and promoting clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS).
The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively engaged with the speaker. Through this activity, students in the Health Promotion concentration are expected to broaden their understanding of health promotion policies and their implementation across various regional contexts in Indonesia, particularly in Eastern areas.
